The Overview Map

(Image: Overview Map)

North is at the top. Halifax harbour is prominent with
Dartmouth on the right and part of the Halifax Peninsula at
the lower left.

The main routes to our location are Route 118/Woodland Avenue,
Windmill Road, or Alderney Drive in Dartmouth. While from Halifax,
it is the Macdonald and MacKay bridges. From Bedford, take the
Dartmouth Road at the Chickenburger Restaurant to Windmill Road.
Coming from Sackville, it's route 101 to Route 7/Windmill Road.

The Close-Up Map

(Image: Close-Up Map)

to the left across The Macdonald Bridge.

We are located very nearly under that bridge
on the Dartmouth side at 80 Fairbanks Street
in a metal-sided, two-tone tan coloured building.

WARNING:
The Macdonald bridge is currently
under renovations and is only open
weekdays from 6 AM through 7 PM.
It is closed most weekends.

VERBAL INSTRUCTIONS

  FROM HALIFAX:
(Via the Macdonald Bridge)

Use the far right toll lane: (MAC-Pass or $1.00 -- quarters or dollar-coin only) and turn right on to Wyse Road, staying in the righthand (curb) lane. 200 metres down Wyse Road curve right to a set of lights. Turn right at these lights on to Windmill Road. From there, take your second or third left on to Mott Street or Best Street. Take the next right on to Fairbanks Street. We are in the first or second block on the right-hand side in a metal-sided, two-tone tan coloured building (#80). Walk in the man door and turn left.

  FROM HALIFAX:
(Via the MacKay Bridge)
Use the far-right toll lane: (MAC-Pass or $1.00 -- quarters or dollar-coin only). Take the Princess Margaret Boulevard exit immediately after leaving the toll lane. At the bottom of the S-curved exit ramp, turn left, then cross the railway tracks and approach a set of lights. (U-Haul will be diagonally across from you to the left.)

At the lights, turn right on to Windmill Road and drive almost the entire remaining length of Windmill to where you are about to pass under the Macdonald Bridge. A long chain-link fence will have been on your right for quite a few blocks. Do not drive under the bridge! Instead, turn right on to Lyle Street between the end of the fence and the bridge supports. Take your first left on to Fairbanks Street. On the left will then be a grassy lot, two houses and our location. It is a metal-sided, two-tone tan coloured building (#80). Walk in the man door and turn left.

  FROM BEDFORD:
From the Sunnyside Area, take Dartmouth Road next to the Chickenburger Restaurant. It will become a highway (#7). You will eventually enter Dartmouth where upon the highway becomes Windmill Road. The Burnside Industrial Park will be on your left. Drive through three sets of lights. As you approach a fourth set near a car dealership, the road splits: On your left, two lanes go up a hill towards the MacKay Bridge approach interchange, while one lane curves to the right, exits, and continues to follow Windmill Road.

Bear right on to Windmill Road at these lights and drive almost the entire remaining length of Windmill to where you are about to pass under the Macdonald Bridge.

  FROM THE SOUTH SHORE:
(Highway 103): Travel through Halifax via the Armdale Traffic Circle and on to Chebucto Road. Then just before Oxford street, bear left on to North Street. Continue to the beginning of North and on to The Macdonald Bridge. Then follow the "From Halifax Via the Macdonald Bridge" instructions, farther back.

Be aware that this bridge may be closed, so select one of
the MacKay Bridge routes discussed elsewhere on this page.

  FROM THE ANNAPOLIS VALLEY:
(Highway 101): Travel the 101 almost to Bedford and take the exit to Dartmouth. You will eventually enter Dartmouth on Windmill Road with the Burnside Industrial Park on your left. Drive through three sets of lights. As you approach a fourth set near a car dealership, the road splits: On your left, two lanes go up a hill towards the MacKay Bridge approach interchange, while one lane curves to the right, exits, and continues to follow Windmill Road.

Bear right on to Windmill Road at the lights and drive almost the entire remaining length of Windmill to where you are about to pass under the Macdonald Bridge.

  FROM THE TRURO HIGHWAY:
(Highway 102): About ten minutes past The Stanfield International Airport, bear left to take the Dartmouth exit on to Highway 118. Follow the signs to Downtown Dartmouth making no exits. The 118 will lead you into Dartmouth proper. You will pass a retail business park called Dartmouth Crossing. It will be on your right. If on a parallel roadway between you and the park you see a "Halifax/Dartmouth" sign, ignore it -- you are indeed already on the correct highway. Shortly you will enter a 50 km/h zone after a set of lights at Mic Mac Boulevard/Lancaster. At this point you will be on Woodland Avenue. At the bottom of Woodland Avenue are a set of lights. (An Ultramar gas station will be on your right.)

Turn left at these lights on to Victoria Road and then turn right at the next set of lights on to Boland Road. Turn left at the following set of lights on to Wyse Road. Take your third right on to Faulkner Street and at the bottom of the hill where Faulkner starts, turn left on to Windmill Road. Take your first right on to Lyle Street between the end of a chain-link fence and some bridge supports. Now turn at the first left on to Fairbanks Street. On your left will be a grassy lot, two houses and our location. It is a metal-sided, two-tone tan coloured building (#80). Walk in the man door and turn left.

  FROM EASTERN PASSAGE/WOODSIDE:
Follow Pleasant Street through Woodside heading into Dartmouth. Eventually, you will reach an intersection known as "Five Corners". A set of lights is there. Bear slightly left on to Portland Street and drive to its beginning at Alderney Drive. Turn right on to Alderney, and pass through three sets of traffic lights. After the third set, Alderney Drive becomes Windmill Road. As an identifying landmark at this set of lights, look diagonally away from you; in the near distance and to your right is a glass-faced office tower (part of the Holiday Inn Hotel).

Now drive straight through the intersection and take your second or third left on to Mott Street or Best Street. Take the next right on to Fairbanks. We are on the first or second block on the right-hand side in a metal-sided, two-tone tan coloured building (#80). Walk in the man door and turn left.

  FROM THE EASTERN SHORE:
(Route 7): Follow Highway 107 to The Forrest Hills Parkway and continue straight. This is now Route 7/Main Street. Go all the way to the beginning of Main Street where you will take the Downtown Dartmouth exit to the right. (This is up a short rise just past a PetroCan gas station on the right at Major Street. There is also a set of lights at Main & Major.)

At the bottom of this exit, bear left to the lights and turn left at those lights from the right lane. After crossing the overpass and approaching another set of lights, move into another right lane forming just before those lights. (An Atlantic Superstore will be diagonally across from you to the left at this point.) Go through this set of lights and the next (which are at the entrance to The Superstore parking lot). The street then curves right and you are now on Prince Albert Road. Stay in the right lane.

Travel along the lake seen on your right and go through two sets of lights -- one at Hawthorne Street and the other at Maple Street. You are now on Ochterloney Street. (Prince Albert Road curved away from your path a block father back near an Esso Station and your route became Ochterloney Street.)

Continue on almost to the bottom of Ochterloney to a set of lights at Alderney Drive where you will turn right on to Alderney. Up a hill at the next set of lights, Alderney becomes Windmill Road. Diagonally away from you in the near distance to your right is a glass-faced office tower (part of the Holiday Inn).

Go straight through those lights and take your second or third left and then your first right on to Mott Street or Best Street. Take the next right on to Fairbanks. We are in the first or second block on the right-hand side in a metal-sided, two-tone tan coloured building (#80). Walk in the man door and turn left.

ALTERNATE ROUTE:
(This is longer but it will eliminate
some of your travel through the city.)

(Highway 107): Follow the 107 to the Forrest Hills Parkway and turn right at the lights to maintain your travel on the 107. Go to near where the end of the 107 crosses an overpass. The highway splits. You will bear left to exit South on to Route 118. The 118 will lead you into Dartmouth proper. You pass a retail business park called Dartmouth Crossing. It will be on your right. If on a parallel roadway between you and the park you see a "Halifax/Dartmouth" sign, ignore it -- you are indeed already on the correct highway. Eventually at the top of a long hill you will enter a 50 km/h zone after a set of lights at Mic Mac Boulevard/Lancaster. At this point you will be on Woodland Avenue. At the bottom of Woodland Avenue are a set of lights. (An Ultramar gas station will be on your right.)

Turn left at these lights on to Victoria Road and then turn right at the next set of lights on to Boland Road. Turn left at the following traffic lights on to Wyse Road. Take your third right on to Faulkner Street and at the bottom of the hill, turn left on to Windmill Road.
